iGEL Clusters

iGEL-1 & iGEL-2 clusters

History

The clusters have been made by Mr. H.C. Kim and Mr. S.S. Yang under Prof. J.K. Lee's direction with the technical help of Prof. S.B. Lee of KyungPook Univ in 2002.

We appreciate the support of PAM members and the help of Prof. S.G. Lee and his students .

System Spec.

82 PCs of Pentium 4 (iGEL-1 : 41 PCs & iGEL-2 : 41 PCs)

- Each has its own single Intel CPU 2.4GHz (iGEL-1) or CPU 2.8GHz (iGEL-2) with 512MB RDRAM. The server machine has 1GB RDRAM.

Server : pamg0

- Server machine has its own SCSI hard disk (HD).

Clients : pamg1, pamg2, ...


- Client machines can be connected only from server machine and the other clients.

- Clients are diskless (don't have its own HD) and use the HD of server server machine through NFS.

Network

100Mbps Ethernet Configuration


- 3c905C NICs are connected to 100Mbps Switching Hub.

OS

Redhat Linux 7.3 (Kernel 2.4.18) supporting ext3 journaling filesystem

- XPDC1 (Cylindrical 1D PIC/MC Code : Newton's eqn.(Particle #: 3.6e5 or 3e4) + Poisson's Eqn.(Simulation grid #: 300))

- Taking time to run 10000 timesteps
